4 essentials for change-Part 1
Posted by: | CommentsYesterday I talked about pain as a driver for us to change. Not enough pain really hinders us from committing to change. (I wish this wasn’t true, but it is).
Pain is one of four things we need if we are going to achieve our goals and commit to changes we want in our lives.
1. Pain
2. Hope.
Unless we have hope that change is possible we are defeated before we start. The reason we love success stories and rags to riches testimonies is that they create hope. If someone else could do it then maybe I can. Some of us may need to focus on creating hope for ourselves to change before we start beating ourselves up over not achieving our goals.
Regardless of whether you want to lose weight or be a billionaire find some people who have achieved what you want and read their books, watch them on Youtube, attend their conferences, whatever it takes for you to start to have hope that you CAN achieve what they did. Your goals become achievable when you add hope to pain.

Sticking to your knitting??
Posted by: | CommentsSo tomorrow is the end of March. You are exaclty 1/4 of the way through your 12 month goals.
1. Are you still pursuing them?
2. Can you look yourself in the moirror and be happy that you are 25% closer tot hose goals than you were on January 1.
3. If you are not moving towards them then you need to find out why.
There are generally 2 answers, either the pain of your current situation isn’t great enough to cause you to really want to change or you have set goals that you don’t really care about.
The former will eventually take care of itself over time but if the latter then you are deceiving yourself. We all have areas in our lives that we need to develop. Most of us have areas in our lives that don’t work very well at all in fact so change is essential.
So “consider your ways” as the Bible says, think about whether you are willing ot do what it takes to achieve your existing goals. And if you have been kidding yourself, take some time to think about what you really, really want and set some achievable goals for yourself.
If you don’t know where to start then think of what causes you the greatest pain, this is a primary motivator to change. WHat goal could you set that would reduce the pain in your life?
More on this tomorrow, till then…….

Check up from the neck up
Posted by: | CommentsWe often shy away from the word “mental” as it has negative connotations for many of us. But the fact is our mental health is important. When we are not well we kill ourselves (or others), we mistreat people, we abuse substances etc., or at the very leaast we live in a world of worry and stress.
So here’s a simple “test” for you to consider.

Good mental health involves 4 general quadrants
1. I am OK. There are things I do that I don’t want to do and some aspects of myself I want to change but fundamentally I am OK. I like myself and I can enjoy my own company.
2. Others are OK. There will always be dangerous people and because we are all flawed I might get hurt sometimes but basically people are OK. I can usually trust people and expect most people I know to be decent.
3. The world is OK. There will always be danger and problems in the world but basically the world is OK. I might get attacked sometime, but probably not. Something really weird could happen to me but the likelihood of that is remote. Generally the world is OK, safe and to be enjoyed.
4. God is OK. It is impossible to really be OK without being at peace with our own spirituality so God, however I per ceive Him has to be OK. I can trust Him, I know I am safe spiritually and don’t have to fear any weirdness that comes my way form others spiritually.
If you can tick these boxes most of the time, you’re OK, your mental health is great!!

Why the American economy fell over!!
Posted by: | CommentsJohn Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock,
(MADE IN JAPAN)
for 6 am.
While his coffeepot, (MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG).
He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA), designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE) and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA).
After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA), he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO) to see how much he could spend today.
After setting his watch
(MADE IN TAIWAN)
to the radio
(MADE IN INDIA)
he got in his car
(MADE IN GERMANY)
filled it with petrol
(from Saudi Arabia)
and continued his search for a good paying AMERICAN JOB.
At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day checking his Computer
(made in MALAYSIA),
John decided to relax for a while.
He put on his sandals
(MADE IN BRAZIL),
poured himself a glass of wine
(MADE IN FRANCE)
and turned on his TV
(MADE IN INDONESIA),
and then wondered why he can’t find a good paying job in AMERICA
AND NOW HE’S HOPING HE CAN GET HELP FROM A PRESIDENT MADE IN KENYA
Tekanology again.
Posted by: | CommentsFirstly my apologies for those of you not receiving blog updates via email. We changed servers late last week and the new one is misbehaving. So if you haven’t visited the site for a few days you need to scroll down to catch up on my blogs since the 18th.
Speaking of technology I finally found a suitable vehicle for our little village in Fiji. Saves having to buy a boat and a car!!

And for a mere 1.2 million US dollars why wouldn’t you have 2!!
It’s a fascinating world we live in where my friends in Fiji live on literally nothing and in America they build toys like this. I read an article on Ghana this week where the average wage is one US dollar A WEEK!!
Like many property people I have learned the value of a dollar recently as I watch so much equity eroded in this meltdown and it always drives me back to things that are really important. If you’re having a bad day do a list, here’s part of mine………..
I’m thankful to be living in a country that allows me to freely worship God, attend church and share his love with others.
I’m thankful to be married to the most exquisite woman on the planet.
I’m thankful for having 5 gorgeous children who are all healthy, wonderful human beings.
I’m thankful for an extended family (on both sides), who love and support us so kindly.
I’m thankful for the many friends I have through Massive Action, people who write ot me, text me and ring me just to thanks me for encouraging them through my written ramblings.
Get the point??
OK your turn, I am thankful today for…….

A world beater
Posted by: | CommentsEvery now and again I come across something that is so totally ridiculous that it really “takes the cake” either in gullibility or manipulation. So today I was sent a link to “The 11 forgotten secrets” of Bob Proctors “The Secret”.
My views on this are well known but this really went to new levels in my opinion.
Some of the sales blurb was Bob actually saying the “The Secret” as it was sold to millions “didn’t work” because the media had watered it down. In other words, my product that I sold you didn’t work because I was made to change it so it would sell more. What a load of nonsense.
The fact is the USA slid into turmoil in spite of millions of people practising the secret because the secret doesn’t work. The real creator, God, will never let an evil philosophy like this prosper. There is enough smell of truth about the secret to suck people in who are desperately looking for answers but it sells them a quick fix deception instead of truth.
Anyway he then goes on to say that the secret was just incomplete and you need to spend another several thousand dollars to get the bits you didn’t get last time.
It is frankly reprehensible that this sort of marketing is allowed. Even more amazing is that good, naive people get taken advantage of looking for answers that cannot be found in this philosophy.
If your life doesn’t work, financially, relationally or whatever then there are 2 paths you can take that will work. Pursue a relationship with Jesus Christ. He made you, loves you and can heal every wound you have ever received OR
Take the practical route. Get educated in practical ways to budget, communicate, whatever it is you need. But please don’t waste good money on lies like the secret, the forgotten laws, ancient wisdom etc.
Be committed to the truth. And truth has a ring about it that you can learn to discern.
I can tell you the real secret. Having a successful life requires a commitment to genuine principles, it takes hard work and perseverance. Shortcuts are usually empty marketing promises designed to make someone else wealthy.
