Check up from the neck up
ByWe often shy away from the word “mental” as it has negative connotations for many of us. But the fact is our mental health is important. When we are not well we kill ourselves (or others), we mistreat people, we abuse substances etc., or at the very leaast we live in a world of worry and stress.
So here’s a simple “test” for you to consider.

Good mental health involves 4 general quadrants
1. I am OK. There are things I do that I don’t want to do and some aspects of myself I want to change but fundamentally I am OK. I like myself and I can enjoy my own company.
2. Others are OK. There will always be dangerous people and because we are all flawed I might get hurt sometimes but basically people are OK. I can usually trust people and expect most people I know to be decent.
3. The world is OK. There will always be danger and problems in the world but basically the world is OK. I might get attacked sometime, but probably not. Something really weird could happen to me but the likelihood of that is remote. Generally the world is OK, safe and to be enjoyed.
4. God is OK. It is impossible to really be OK without being at peace with our own spirituality so God, however I per ceive Him has to be OK. I can trust Him, I know I am safe spiritually and don’t have to fear any weirdness that comes my way form others spiritually.
If you can tick these boxes most of the time, you’re OK, your mental health is great!!
