Getting bigger or smaller??

By Dean Letfus

After the Bible, the writings of Steven Covey have the greatest impact on me. He is a spiritual man, although not a Christian, but his wisdom is deep and profound.

I was rereading this today and thought it worth sharing.

“Most people are deeply scripted in what I call the Scarcity Mentality. They see life as having only so much, as though there were only one pie out there. And if someone were to get a big piece of the pie, it would mean less for everybody else.

The Scarcity Mentality is the zero-sum paradigm of life. People with a Scarcity Mentality have a very difficult time sharing recognition and credit, power or profit – even with those who help in the production. The also have a a very hard time being genuinely happy for the success of other people.

The Abundance Mentality, on the other hand, flow out of a deep inner sense of personal worth and security. It is the paradigm that there is plenty out there and enough to spare for everybody. It results in sharing of prestige, of recognition, of profits, of decision making. It opens possibilities, options, alternatives, and creativity.”

Sadly NZ has a lot of the former, but thankfully a growing army of the latter is emerging.

I guess it’s because scarcity is easy to pursue, even though it’s toxic.  Developing abundance mentality always takes work and commitment to personal growth.

So what about you today?

Are you busy shrinking or busy growing??

Just so you know,Steven Covey is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints otherwise known as the Mormons. Unfortunately many people are not aware of the fact that Mormons are most definitely Christians which is clear if you study the principles of this Church.
Brother Covey has written some fantastic books for this church, one being “The Spiritual Roots of Human Relationships”, which I read and was profoundly changed by. For further clarification of the principles Covey lives and espouses, please consult websites with the correct information regarding this church such as XXXXXXXXX

Thanks Landsdowne. This is not a religious debate site but if you study the principles of Mormonism and what the Bible says there is no way to say Mormons are Bible believing Christians. I have never heard Dr Covey say he is Christian and given his intellect I am sure he never would.
That is why I made the statement I did in the blog.

Mormon beliefs contradict the Bible in too many ways.
