Granted
ByIt can be easy to take things for granted can’t it??
This morning I am sitting at the Airport and was suddenly struck by the fact of how different my life is in so many ways.
There are negatives and positives of course. More stress, bigger dramas, more responsibility and bigger devils, however to be able to jump on a plane to Australia just to have a meeting and not have to ring my boss or worry about my pay being short as a result is quite incredible.
We joined the Koru Club this week, (because Raewyn finally decided we could afford it), so I even get to sit in a lovely lounge with free food/internet access etc.
When God first laid Fiji on my heart I had to do hours and hours of overtime to save up enough money just to be able to fly there and pay for the goods we were giving. I would always have in my mind how many hours I would have to do when I returned also to make up for it. 7 day weeks, 12 to 16 hour days, but I did it because I knew I was called to Fiji and my love for the people outweighed my wanting to work less.
Now we can simply transfer more funds than I ever thought possible to Fiji and arrive to our own home in Tavua and potentially impact a whole nation instead of just a few people. Thanks to taking some “Massive Action” and due to the incredible kindness and support of our clients and friends we are now able to consider any project in Fiji.
And the kindness of so many of you almost has me in tears here in the lounge. Just this week a gorgeous young lady who is now a good friend of mine sent us $1000 to be spent in Fiji. No reason, no manipulation, she just wanted to bless our work and thank us for the input we have into her life through things like this blog. Isn’t that incredible. I’ve had another friend, currently in England do the same thing a few months ago, along with many other incredible gifts and support. The difference to the people I love in Fiji is indescribable.
I guess when you have a vision bigger than yourself and pursue it with honesty and transparency, others can and will support you in it.
In fact sometimes I lie in bed at night wondering if we could get enough funds flowing in to actually fund the government COMPLETELY and deal with the corruption there once and for all. Imagine if I could go the Suva council and say that I am going to build 5000 homes for all the squatters living in filth with no hope. Or go to the government and say that I was in a position to provide clean water to the entire country!!
A pipe dream??, maybe, but hey if I wasn’t a dreamer I’d still be working 7 days a week for $25 an hour
I share this with you not to “big note”, nothing could be further from my mind, but to encourage you that you can achieve what you decide you will have. In October 2004 Raewyn and I decided to try and get ourselves in a position where we could do a lot more in Fiji and not have to worry about money.
Well we still worry about money in one sense because God keeps placing opportunities in our hands that require risk and create stress, but we have far exceeded our goals to be able to serve God in Fiji and help the people of that nation. Now God is opening doors for us into other nations as well that we never imagined possible.
So pursue your goals, never give up on your dreams and decide that success is possible.
As Yoda said: “Try, there is no try, there is just do or not do”.
